Living at La Trobe is more than just a place to live. It’s an opportunity to experience uni life in a totally unique and awesome way, and we can’t wait to have you living here in 2018! There are so many great things about living on-campus at La Trobe, whether it be the short walk to class, the inclusive and supportive community you will be part of, or all the events and activities, you’ve got a lot to be excited about.

So you’ve got all of this and more to look forward to, but before all that happens you’ll need to think about moving-in and having all the right stuff to make your new home the best it can be. Regardless of what you choose to bring, we are here to help if you have any questions or need help settling in to your new home.

What must I do prior to checking-in?

To avoid any delays in your check-in please ensure you complete the following compulsory courses and compulsory payments prior to check-in.

Please note: If you have not completed the courses by your check in day, you may be asked to complete the modules prior to receiving your key. The courses take approx. 30 minutes each. There is no need to send us your certificate, we are able to generate a completion report to confirm completion.

  • You need to have paid your annual compulsory Fee
  • You have provided a suitable photo for an ID card during your application (You would have already received an email from us if the photo was not suitable.

Make your way to the Accommodation Services Office at Menzies College to check-in. Having trouble finding us? Call us on 9479 1071!

 

How do I know what room I am allocated?

You will be notified of your room when you check in.  

 

I am under 18 Years of age, am I required to follow any additional instructions?

Yes, Residents under the Age of 18 will be identified during check-in. All minors and their guardians are required to sign a form agreeing to refrain from consuming alcohol.

Do I pay for parking whilst living on campus?                                                                                                              

Yes, if you are planning to keep your car on campus – please use the following link to purchase a vPermit. http://www.latrobe.edu.au/transport-central/car-parking/melbourne-parking/permits

Do I need to bring my own linen?                                                                                                         A mattress and mattress protector will be provided, however; you will need to bring (your own need to bring or purchase from us all other bedding items. You can purchase via our Student Blog Shop, and we will place this in your room prior to arrival. The beds are all single. – Visit the Online Shop

 

Am I able to receive mail?                                                                                                                  

Yes, mail will need to be addressed to you in the following format:

How do I pay my rent?

You can either pay your rent in person at the Accommodation Services office using EFTPOS, Visa or MasterCard (we don’t accept cash), via bank transfer or via the StarRez portal. A monthly rent schedule is attached to show you when and how to pay.

Still wondering what to pack? Here are a few things to remember…

  • Clothes – this may seem obvious but remember that you will need to pack for all types of weather, activities and conditions. We have all types of events and activities for you to take part in throughout the year…so bathers will help if you’re wanting to Swimming with Dolphins, and snow pants will be great for snowboarding at Mt Hotham…and you might even want to wear something special if you decide to go on our Commonwealth Games trip!
  • Toiletries – It’s always good to start with everything you need. Once you’ve settled into your new home, feel free to visit the local shopping centre to re-stock your supplies.
  • Linen – Single Bed sheets, pillows and doonas, as well as a towel – Purchase through our store
  • Laptops/computers – We have computer rooms for you to use, but if you have your own laptop, it’s always good to have – and don’t forget your charger!
  • Kitchen equipment – We recommend bringing your own pots/pans/plates/cutlery/bowls etc as we don’t supply these in our kitchens.
  • Mini Bar Fridge – This is optional and we are more than happy to help you move it into your room.
