Living at La Trobe is more than just a place to live. It’s an opportunity to experience uni life in a totally unique and awesome way, and we can’t wait to have you living here in 2018! There are so many great things about living on-campus at La Trobe, whether it be the short walk to class, the inclusive and supportive community you will be part of, or all the events and activities, you’ve got a lot to be excited about.

So you’ve got all of this and more to look forward to, but before all that happens you’ll need to think about moving-in and having all the right stuff to make your new home the best it can be. Regardless of what you choose to bring, we are here to help if you have any questions or need help settling in to your new home.

*Check-in Day = February 10, 2018*

Melbourne Campus (Bundoora)

Firstly, residents can check-in from February 10.

NOTE – you CAN check-in after February 10. This date is the official beginning of your rental contract period.

We ask that you try to arrive between 9am – 3pm as we will have more staff available to help with any questions and queries, along with any administrative requirements.

Are you wondering whether it’s worth checking-in early on Feb 10? We’ll be putting on a FREE BBQ between 9-11am for all our new residents and visitors!

NOTE: You can check-in at any time, and if doing so outside of these times (9am – 3pm) you will need to check-in at the Accommodation Services Office, located at Menzies College.

Two types of check-in are available

Express check-in: This is recommended for all students as it is quick and easy, allowing for a smooth check-in process. Here are the requirements for express check-in:

  • You have paid your annual compulsory fee
  • You have provided a suitable photo for an ID card during your application (you would have already received an email from us if the photo you have provided is not suitable)
  • Completed your online induction module:

Express check-in can be completed at the Marquees set up at Glenn College (car park 6), Menzies College (car park 6) and Chisholm College (car park 3). There will also be a marquee at Barnes Way and Waterdale Road. Please go to the college you are due to move-in to.

  • Have not completed your online induction modules
  • Have any questions that cannot be answered at the express check-in points

Instructions for arrival

  • Residents must ‘check-in’ at individual college locations (Chisholm, Glenn, Menzies, Barnes Way/Waterdale Road) on check-in day.   Residents arriving for Graduate House and University Lodge will need to proceed to our main office to be checked-in here.
  • Please park in car park 3 (Chisholm College residents) or car park 6 (Menzies and Glenn), and obtain your key at check in desks BEFORE moving your belongings into your room.
  • Barnes Way and Waterdale Road:  Please go to the car park at Waterdale Road (corner of Kingsbury Drive) and make your way to the playground (visible from the carpark) to collect your keys BEFORE moving your belongings into your room.
  • Once you have your key, you will be shown to your room location and then you will have the opportunity to move and unpack your car closer to your room.

Students under 18 years of age

Students under the age of 18 will be identified during check-in. All minors and their guardians are required to sign a form agreeing to refrain from consuming alcohol and must attend the Meet the staff info session in Union Hall at 4pm.

Parking and unpacking

Staff and student leaders will be available to help you to find your way to the appropriate car park.

Student leaders will be on hand to help you to take your belongings to your new home.

Unpack your things with caution, being mindful of your safety and property and the safety and property of others.

If the office is closed when you arrive, please call our Night Manager on 0418-541-953 (We provide 24-hour check in so please do not worry if you are running late and will not make it before the end of check-in day).
