September 14th was national R U OK DAY?

R U OK DAY is a national day of action to remind all Australians of the importance of connecting and checking in with our family, friends and workmates.

R U OK is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to encouraging all Australians to connect and to have regular, meaningful conversations with anyone struggling with life. R U OK?’s vision is a world where everyone is connected and are all protected from suicide.

Bendigo Accommodation Services assisted with the R U OK DAY? activities in the Bendigo Students Union to raise awareness for suicide prevention and mental health.

The Bendigo Students Union was buzzing with people, delicious food, tiny puppies, and the University counselor ran a “No Dumb Questions” panel, to encourage students to discuss the things that really matter.

The R U OK DAY? activities then continued over at our residences, with a special super CGM run by our awesome Health & Wellbeing student leaders. Students we’re encouraged to ask a fellow resident if they we’re ok and to promote conversation. The common room was filled with R U OK DAY activities, including yoga, R U OK DAY sticky note wall, photo booth and videos on the big screen. Students also enjoyed the taco van, as well as prizes for best R U OK DAY? costume, best R U OK DAY? video & more!
