A group of students spending time together.

Congratulations! If you’re reading this, you’ve most likely been selected to join one of our student residences at La Trobe University in 2017. This moment will without doubt be a real turning point in our life, as it has been for hundreds of others over the years.

So now what? Aside from preparing for your big move to campus in early February, there’s some important information that you need to know.

Firstly, we’d encourage you to refer to the Living at La Trobe blog as a key source of information – over coming months we’ll be posting news and updates about our accommodation precinct and how you can prepare for your arrival. Additionally, as the year progresses, this site will be your go-to for everything you need about what’s happening, who’s who and what’s what.

To get you started, we wanted to share with you some background information:

  • As a resident, you’ll be joining with students from a range of backgrounds, ages, cultures, and academic studies.
  • You’ll be joining our residential community of more than 2,400 students living across multiple campuses (Melbourne and Bendigo are home to the majority of our residential students)
  • Our properties include traditional residential colleges, student apartments and housing for graduate and mature age students or families
  • We also provide accommodation advice and placement services in some of our private accommodation sites across the state

Above all, we’re committed to fostering a residential environment in which living and learning communities flourish – creating the conditions for our residents (you!) to enjoy the benefits of an all-round education and get the most out of your time at university.

If you’re a commencing first year student, we encourage you to start your journey with us by attending our comprehensive ResFest Orientation Program. The activities and events offered during these first few weeks will help you settle in and make friends, bandut you’ll also have your first opportunity to get involved in the dynamic residential and university community.

So what next? The best advice we can give is to watch this space, come prepared and get involved.

We can’t wait to meet you!
